3rd Annual Little Brown Skin Girls Exhibit Opening Reception

3rd Annual Little Brown Skin Girls Exhibit Opening Reception
Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library

Little brown skin girl is a phrase that was commonly ‘tossed’ around in the family of artist Lia Nelson-James. It was used as a term of endearment as well as identification. This exhibit gives a voice to girls/women of color, telling stories or recounting a tale of positive perspective on the varied aspects of skin hues, hope and dreams yet to come.

Each year, Lia brings new works and tells more about her journey through her artwork. Join her and hear about her discoveries and revelations over the past year, and how it has influenced her work.

*Light refreshments will be provided. Door prizes will be given away during the event but you must be present to win.
